Facebook should have a 'Not Like' / 'Thumbs Down' Button too ..

All popular websites have it. It's obvious if you can like stuff then you will dislike stuff as well. Every now and then people post stuff on facebook that you don't really like. I suppose their idea of not liking something is just not to click 'the like' button. But that is not enough, sometimes you want to express your feelings and a 'not like' or 'dislike' button would come in extra handy.

Can a computer system damage my eye

Can A Computer Screen Damage My Eye?

Twenty years ago, few offices workers used computers, let alone had computers. However
with the dramatic increase in home and office computer use, complaints of eye fatigue and
discomfort are commonplace. Many people assume increased computer use is the source
of these complaints. But extensive testing in government and private laboratories has not
produced scientific evidence that computer monitors will harm your eyes. Research has
established that computer monitors emit little or no hazardous radiation, such as x-ray, or
non-ionizing radiation, such as ultraviolet rays.

While computers have no known harmful effects on eyesight, computer users do often
complain of eye related symptoms such as eyestrain, headaches, fatigue, dry eyes, and
difficulty focusing, These symptoms (Computer Vision Syndrome - CVS) however are
caused not by the computer screen itself but rather by the conditions surrounding the
computer screen, such as poor lighting or improper placement of computer equipment
and computer furniture. In some instances, a pre-existing eye problem may be the cause.

Why Do We Get Eyestrain?

There are several different things that can lead to eyestrain symptoms. When the muscle
inside of the eye that controls focusing is overworked, symptoms can occur. In many
cases, these symptoms will not start immediately, but only after several hours of work.
When the muscle in the eye becomes fatigued, the eyes may feel uncomfortable or ache.
The vision may blur off and on. A mild headache can occur if the eyes continue to work.
In some cases, the muscle within the eye can become so fatigued that it cannot fully
unfocus, leading to blurred distance vision.

The following things can contribute to eyestrain:

  • Having to read or use a computer at a fixed, set distance for a long continuous
period of time. Even if a person has more than adequate focusing ability, focusing at
a set distance continuously can fatigue the lens.
  • Having to read or work at very close distances. This requires much more focusing
and leads to more rapid fatigue.
  • Using inadequately powered reading glasses, or using an outdated glasses
    prescription.
  • Working in situations with inadequate lighting, or with glare from overhead lighting.
  • Having other underlying eye problems, such as ocular allergy or dry eye.
  • Having an imbalance in eye muscle alignment, so that the eyes have to fight to stay
    fixated on a near object.

What Can We Do About Eyestrain?
Eyestrain will not permanently damage the eyes or cause a loss of vision. However, it can
be very uncomfortable and lead to a loss of productivity. Anyone who uses a computer
can take measures to reduce eye discomfort.

Get An Eye Exam
The American Academy of Ophthalmology suggests that you start with a comprehensive
eye exam. This is always a good staring point anytime you experience symptoms like
headaches, eye strain, blurred vision, eye irritation, double vision, excessive tears, dry
eyes, pain in the eyes, excessive blinking or squinting. The exam will help rule out any
ocular conditions that may exist that are causing eye symptoms.

Vision Correction
Getting an eye exam is especially important if you wear glasses or contact lenses. Let the
ophthalmologist know how often you are in front of a computer screen. Since most
glasses are made to correct for a reading distance of 16 inches, it is important that they
are adjusted for your particular work environment. It is recommended that the computer
screen should be 20 to 26 inches from your eyes, and your glasses can be made to
accommodate this distance. Your glasses can also receive special anti-reflective coatings
and tints to help reduce eyestrain. If you are over forty, you may require one pair of
glasses that corrects for your “normal” prescription and another pair that corrects your
vision when in front of a computer screen. If you are over forty and require reading
glasses or wear bifocals (with lines or without), the need for two separate pairs of glasses
may be even more necessary.

If you do not normally require a vision correction, computer eyeglasses with low power
plus lenses and sometimes a light tint is often helpful. The color of the tint depends upon
the screen background color, ambient room lighting, and your prescription. This should
be discussed with the optician.

Adjust The Equipment
Set the monitor, desk, and chair at comfortable distances and heights. Some of these
figures may be obtained in the documentation that came with the computer products.
Most users prefer a viewing distance of 20 to 26 inches, but this distance should be
between 18 and 28 inches; a little farther away than for reading printed text. The computer
screen should be placed slightly below eye level. A good rule of thumb is that the center
of the computer screen should be 4 to 9 inches below your eyes, enabling you to look
down slightly at your work. Adjust the brightness of the monitor to an intensity that is
comfortable to your eyes; not to bright and not to dim. Then adjust the contrast control so
that the characters on the monitor and the background so the letters are easily read.

Create Good Lighting And Reduce Glare
Try to modify the lighting eliminating glare and harsh reflections. If reading, having the
light source coming from behind, over your shoulder, helps to prevent glare problems. If
using a computer, dark print on a white or light gray background is less fatiguing to the
eyes than multicolored print. Sometimes a plastic or glass filter over a computer screen
with an anti-reflective coating can help with computer glare. These can be purchased from
any office supply store.

Rest Your Eyes Periodically
Take frequent, short breaks from near work by focusing on a distance object for a few
seconds. Every twenty minutes, get up, stretch your back and neck and look around.
Move your eyes and move your body, change your position.

Change the distance that you work frequently. If the eyes are feeling increasingly fatigued,
hold things further away rather than closer to you. Avoid getting very close to what you
are reading.

Avoid Dry Eyes
Blink! Studies have shown that when you look at the computer monitor, there is a natural
tendency toward a reduced blink rate. The less you blink, the more likely you are to
experience dry eye symptoms of burning, sand-in-the-eye, heavy lids, etc.

The normal blink rate is averages 12 times per minute. Computer users usually blink 5
times per minute. The longer the eye remains open between blinks, the more likely the
cornea is to dehydrate, burn or ache. Then, finally, you blink. But the damage, although
minor and easily repaired, is already done. Your eyes sting, burn, sting and otherwise feel
miserable. You tear, feel better, then start the process all over again. Eventually, the
disruption to the corneal tissue causes a blurred image to go along with the other
symptoms. You stop work, fall asleep and your body heals itself until the next time.

There are plenty of non-prescription tear replacement or rewetting drops available at your
local drug store but being aware of the need to blink is the real fix, especially if you wear
contact lenses.

Anybody searching for Y!TunnelPro?

Well, the forum and the website have been down for days. The forum was deactivated for at least a month before the whole website collapsed. There never really have been any huge updates in the last 3/4 years.

Originally I had stated that "I hope it stays down for good" which was just being sarcastic. But I don't really care about the software because I hardly go into chatrooms anymore. Plus as long as I remember since when they have launced 3rd version the program has had a lot of bugs and it was sick to use it anyway.

Hoy es martes 10 de Enero 2012 y sitio de Y!TunnelPro es murio otra vez. Para verificar todos el diaz puede usarlo está sitio http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ytunnelpro.com. Gracias.

I'll wait for that day

I know you think of me sometimes even if it is for a fraction of a second. In the while you try to forget about me again. Although there is a portion of your heart that holds the thoughts and memories about me. You have hidden them so deep that you don't even realize they are there.

You don't want me around, even though you would like my company sometimes. You think about those magical days, when we used to be together. It wasn't something special, but it wasn't something ordinary either. I won't come back in your life. I know it's not to be. But I would still remember you, never forget, just like I promised.

That is the way I am, not caring, but still caring enough. You might be with someone else now, I know. But that deep nook in your heart is still empty. It loathes for my company. You know there's a space that needs to be filled. No matter how much you ignore, how much you tempt yourself with the trivialities of life, it won't be filled. It will make you think, it will make you want to come back.

One day will make you realize, that you were wrong, but I know you had no choice. You will see me that day. I will say that day, I understand, with a smile. Understanding will I be and then you will come to me. I will embrace you. That will be the day of redemption. That will be the day of judgment. That will be the last day of one life and the beginning of a new story, which will last for ever.

I will wait for that day, so will you, even though you might not realize it yet.

I got exams ..

I'm appearing in Masters in English. I've been reading all types of old Poems / Dramas etc. It's kinda interesting.

I came to appreciate works of John Milton (Paradise Lost), Canterbury Tales (Geoffrey Chaucer), Rape of the Lock (Alexander Pope). These are some good poems.

I read through a lot of other stuff but I don't have the time to really talk about everything now.

That's a B*tch who wrote that!

I found an article online where a girl describes 7 or 6 type of Pakistanis who are on facebook. Link is this, http://www.ideasevolved.com/6-kinds-of-annoying-pakistanis-on-facebook/

The reason I think she's a total 'ho is because she is the kind of person who would add just anybody as a friend  just to find out what type of person the other guy is.

Why the hell would she know about all type of people on facebook if she hasn't had experience.

If that's not true then she's a biased person which again means that she would turn out to be a total b*tch if you meet her.

Enjoy!

Royal Wedding an unroyal piece of crap!

I have a few questions for all the people who watched Royal Wedding and the whole T.V Fiasco.

What difference do those two make in your life? Other than getting roads blocked and being on the news all the time with their fake smiling faces.

I'm sure they're going to be happy and all that with their marriage, which is good. But how is that going to make you happy in your life?

Can they make your job a better job? Can they get you a better car? Can they tell you everything is going to be alright if things are not going good for you?

No they can't.

So when someone makes no difference in your life or affects you in any way, why bother?

Why is Sachin Tendulkar not the best batsman in the world?

Purpose of his article is to clear the illusion from a lot of people's minds that Sachin Tendulkar is the best batsman in the world on the basis that he has got more centuries than anybody else.

Coming straight to the facts,

Sachin has played 177 test matches to date. Generally a batsman gets 2 innings in a test match. Sachin mostly played in upper order so there's a good chance he has played most of the second innings as well. He has played 453 ODIs.

Total innings to date Sachin played are 290 + 453 = 743. That's a huge number for any batsman by today's standards.

So if he's played 743 innings and total centuries are 98, then

98 / 743 * 100 = 13.19%.

So his total conversion rate for centuries is 13.19% per game to get a century. For a batsman who has opened 330 ODI innings for his country.

Wisdon 100(Wikipedia Link)

The Wisden 100 is a set of lists created by Wisden which attempted to objectively rate the 100 best individual innings performances in Test and One Day International cricket in each of the disciplines of batting and bowling. The Test list was released in 2001 and the ODI list was released in 2002.

The ratings were calculated by scoring each individual batting and bowling performance in various criteria. Apart from the player's actual score or figures, criteria which were taken into account included the strength of the opposition players, the quality of the pitch, the result of the match, and the player's contribution to this result. The maximum possible rating was 300.

Top 10 Batting performances Test Cricket

The top-rated batting performance was Donald Bradman's 270 for Australia against England at Melbourne in the 1936-37 Ashes series. 5 of Bradman's innings appeared in the top 100, more than any other batsman.
Rank Batsman Score For Against Venue Season Rating
1 Donald Bradman 270 Australia England Melbourne 1936-37 262.4
2 Brian Lara 153* West Indies Australia Bridgetown 1998-99 255.2
3 Graham Gooch 154* England West Indies Leeds 1991 252.0
4 Ian Botham 149* England Australia Leeds 1981 240.8

9 Kim Hughes 100* Australia West Indies Melbourne 1981-82 229.7
10 Brian Lara 375 West Indies England St. John's 1993-94 228.1

Top 10 Batting performances in ODI

Following the success of the list for Test cricket, the Wisden 100 list for ODI cricket was released on 1 February 2002.
The top-rated batting performance was Viv Richards' 189* for West Indies against England at Manchester in 1984. 7 of Richards' innings appeared in the top 100, more than any other batsman.
Rank Batsman Score For Against Venue Year Rating
1 Viv Richards 189* West Indies England Old Trafford 1984 257.59
2 Viv Richards 138* West Indies England Lord's, London 1979 245.76
3 Sanath Jayasuriya 189 Sri Lanka India Sharjah 2000 245.33
4 Kapil Dev 175* India Zimbabwe Tunbridge Wells 1983 241.87
5 Saeed Anwar 194 Pakistan India Chennai 1997 225.62
6 David Gower 158 England New Zealand Brisbane 1983 219.84
7 Brian Lara 169 West Indies Sri Lanka Sharjah 1995 215.21
8 Aravinda de Silva 107* Sri Lanka Australia Lahore 1996 212.91
9 Clive Lloyd 102 West Indies Australia Lord's, London 1975 209.84
10 Brian Lara 153 West Indies Pakistan Sharjah 1993 204.46

Despite his highly impressive career record, not one of Sachin Tendulkar's innings appeared in the top 100 batting performances. His omission was strongly criticised by fans and many sections of the media in India.
Wisden defended the list stating that performances which majorly contributed to victories received a much larger weighting than those in which the match was drawn or lost.
Tendulkar's most important innings had usually come in draws and defeats which received a lower weighting.

24 Kevin Pietersen  England 909
25 Shivnarine Chanderpaul  West Indies 901

Sachin is not even in the list of top 25.

Comparison with Ricky Ponting and Jacques Kallis:
These guys have the most number of centuries after Tendulkar in recent times (Ricky 69 100s) (Kallis 57 100s)

If you try to compare this conversion rate with some of the other batsmen to date then Ponting has 11.29% and he doesn't even open the innings for Australia. Kallis has 10.4% and he doesn't open the innings for South Africa.

Ricky Ponting (achievements) has only opened in ODIs 3 times. All his innings come at middle and lower middle order positions. Same case with Kallis (Wikipedia Page >> Achievements), he only opened 6 times in ODIs.

Those guys play according to the situation of the game because in later overs normally batsmen don't have too much time to play out their innings and the game generally comes down to slogging.

They're pretty close to Tendulkar's conversion rate with not even opening half of the games he's opened with.

So it's not fair to compare their number of centuries to Tendulkar.

Can you say this conversion rate belongs to the best batsman in the world? Considering the fact that the guy goes on and opens the innings more than anybody in his class? Not at all.

Problems in Middle Order:

Tendulkar has found it difficult to maintain a good average and scoring rate at positions lower down the order. His overall average in ODIs coming at No. 3 is  10.22, at No. 4 is 38.85, at no 5 is 28.46. These positions are supposed to be held by key batsmen who need to score no matter what.

Why can't Tendulkar perform? The reason is obvious. Later on in the innings you have to craft your runs because there are no field restrictions so it's harder to get runs. So again, he has had a clear advantage throughout his career in opening for India when the fielders are inside the circle and it's easier to get boundaries.

Batsman and Captaincy?

Tendulkar lost more matches than he won when he was a captain. He couldn't handle the pressure very well that is why he had to resign from captaincy because he had problems coping with the pressure and only wanted to concentrate on his batting so he left Indian captaincy.

In his track record he played 72 ODIs as a captain, won only 23 and lost 42 of them.

Sure Sachin has made the most number of centuries and reached many other milestones but how many big matches has he won India really?

2011 World Cup Final, Sachin only scored 18 runs out of 21 balls.

2009-2010 ICC Champions Trophy  only managed to make 8 runs against Pakistan in whole series!

2007 World Cup Sachin only averaged 32 with his highest score 57* against Bermuda! While, Ricky Pontings average was 67.38.

2006-2007 ICC Champions Trophy Sachin averaged only 24 with his highest against England being 35 runs!

2003 World Cup Final Sachin scored only 4 and got out in the first over! While Ricky Ponting's average was 51.88.

2002-2003 ICC Champions Trophy Sachin averaged 19.50 with his best of 16 against South Africa.

1999 ICC World Cup Sachin scored 140 against Kenya an underdog and managed to provide totals like 22 (SAF), 2 (SRL), 22 (ENG), 0 (AUS), 16 (ENG).

The list goes on and on. Sachin just crumbles on big occasions. Overall if you look up the stats Sachin's stats are wonderful. On paper. But he has a tendency of falling under huge pressure.

If Sachin is the best batsman in the world then why is he struggling in big matches?

He is one of the great players for sure. Not the best though.

An assessment of Sachin Tendulkar's current popularity can be made through Google Trends here. Sachin Tendulkar is the top most searched keyword only in India and after that United Arab Emirates. No body else is searching for him around the world that is of much significance of google!

Having said that, I'm a big fan of Sachin's batting style. He's a good sight to watch when he's playing well. Here is a list of achievements of Sachin Tendulkar http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Achievements_of_Sachin_Tendulkar. :)

But I'm not blind and don't like to treat cricket players as gods. They're just human beings and people should know they have limitations as well.

Here's a special tribute for Sachin Tendulkar from me,

BBC Urdu Sucks!

You know it's kinda annoying to keep on getting ads from BBC Urdu while you're trying to watch your favourite videos on YouTube.

First of all, I'm not that much interested in news. Secondly, I went on the website just to check it out and also make YouTube some money out of the whole escapade!

But the urdu writing on the website is pretty hard to understand. It's not the regular Urdu font style that you would see normally in books or other places.

They really need to work on that.

So again, BBC Urdu sucks! I appreciate that you guys are trying to make an effort in portraying the news as you think it is in Urdu as well. But don't. No body's asking you to.

Thanks, BBC.

Pakistan losing to India in Cricket World Cup Semi Final 2011

It is kinda sad to watch Pakistani team falling to India in the Semi Final of a World Cup. Worst thing about it is that I don't really watch cricket matches just for that reason. If Pakistan loses then it hurts.

But Pakistan lost the match because of their own mistakes. They dropped too many catches and when they managed to bowl out India for a reasonably low target which was very much achievable, their batting just faltered.

To give credit to Afridi, he did the best he could in all the games. He was consistently taking wickets in all matches. He created catches out of Tendulkar in this match as well but not body seemed to grab on to the opportunity when it arrived.

None of the batsmen looked to bat with a real purpose of winning the game. Everybody seemed to come and chip in with a small knock but never really seemed to man the innings in a way a winning team does.

Younis Khan should really have done much better than what he did on the play ground. Besides dropping Sachin Tendulkar, he wasted too many deliveries when he was batting. This added to the overall pressure on the team and then got out without adding much on the score board.

Misbah played extremely slow for anybody's liking. If you compare his dot balls to the score remaining to win for Pakistan you won't find a lot of difference there.
